Pic from Paper Crane series

This is one of the pictures I took of my paper cranes hanging from a tree. While it's not colorful (I may change that later in photoshop), I really love the contrast that was created from the backlighting of the sky. It was actually spitting snow when I took this picture so the overcast skies helped with the setting in this photo.

Jennifer Greenburg

I really love the style that this artist is trying to capture, it's one that I've always appreciated too, and the simple subjects and  pops of color in each photo catches your eye.

Some help?

I like each of the color schemes in these fan photos, but I don't know which looks best. Any suggestions?

Week 3: Russian Nesting Dolls

These are just some collages I threw together of this week's subject: Russian Nesting Dolls. I thought that they were colorful and a bit whimsical so I decided to include it in my concentration series. I wanted to do a secondary color scheme for this group of photos, and I think it turned out pretty well. I'll probably retake these pictures over the weekend, but I'll keep them as back ups if I don't manage to take any more.

Storyboards

These are absolutely horrible sketches, but I've had some ideas on how I want a few of my pictures to be composed.

I'm still trying to figure out how to do the fans, the tarot cards, and the nesting dolls. These sketches are just basic and very rough ideas, they'll be updated later.

My plans will probably for each photo will probably change, but for now this is what I'll be doing over the weekend. The paper crane idea I have is going to be extremely dependent on how the weather ends up this weekend. I plan to hang paper cranes from a tree and take pictures of the cranes from various perspectives.
But if the weather turns for the worse, I'll have to improvise on another setting.

Brainstorming

Some of these I've already taken pictures of, but I'm planning on retaking some of them, so I'd like to keep a list of all the ideas I've come up with so far. This is more for me to keep organized than for anything else.

  1. Geisha necklace
  2. Butterfly wing
  3. Venetian masks
  4. Japanese fans (layered? backlighting?)
  5. Russian nesting dolls
  6. Koi fish charms
  7. Chess pieces
  8. Origami cranes (hanging from a tree? lanterns?)
  9. Tarot cards (collage or single piece?)
  10. Elephant sculpture with feathers attached

I'm an indecisive person, believe me, I know.

I've decided that I'm going to completely scrap the abstract body concentration all together. When I looked at my first post a second time, I realized how striking the red doll and the butterfly wing was and how I still stop to admire it whenever I log on. The colors were vibrant and they caught my attention the first time I did them, and they still do now. Now I've chosen to take pictures of random objects, focusing on bright colors and quirkiness in my photographs. Here's a simple diptych I made of my favorite pictures I described earlier.

At a Crossroads

I'm finding while taking pictures that I'm more interested in black and white images than actual experimental colored light images. While I'll take the rest of the week to think on it, I may be changing my concentration to focus on black and white body abstraction. This is just a collage of some of the pictures that I've taken in black and white so far. I really love the contrast in these images, particularly the eye picture. There's a lot of detail visible in the iris that I've really come to love and tried to capture in many of my images.

Let's sully this blog.

This first set of photographs was just a jumble of random pictures. I don't have a definite concentration theme yet, so these were just practice.
